I love working with natural fibers and the majority of my work is made from wool, cotton and mohair, however, you will occasionally find an item that is a wool/acrylic or nylon mix. Felted items are technically 'fulled'. By description that means that the product is knit or crocheted first and then shrunk (or fulled) during an agressive washing process. This process binds each tiny fiber together to form one sturdy fabric. Some items have embellished designs using the needlefelting technique, in which roving (raw wool) is stabbed several thousand times with a barbed needed to form the design. To me, it is all about shape, color and texture.
