As soon as men learned to turn metal into wire you can bet they learned how to stick it through holes in their ears to adorn themselves. It wasn't a big leap from that to hoops that could be dressed up even more. The original hoops may have looked much like these, simple and easy to live in. Many museums have similar items. --- I carefully handform these out of 20 gauge goldfill wire and file the ends. Goldfill is a tube of 12k gold that is filled with another metal for strength. --- 20 gauge 5/8" (1.5cm) --- Sent 1st Class. Please expect slight variations do the handmade nature of the rings.
